Deep Impressions

Abstract Art is the freedom to create without any limits, there are no rules or expectations. It is a very powerful and vivid means of art and communication.

Abstract art is open to interpretation and that is one of the best things about it. It requires you to have an open, inquisitive mind; it gives you the freedom to explore the artwork and it allows you to give your own meaning to the piece. This powerfully personal process enhances a viewer's experience of an artwork.

Abstract art is all about the colours, the texture, the forms and the energy that the artwork gives off. This type of artwork has the power to alter and enhance the ambience and atmosphere of any living space. Often abstract art doesn't represent anything in the natural world, but sometimes it does. It can simply be a visual expression of emotion or language using colour and form.

I wanted to write this post to share with you how and why I decided to start exploring and experimenting with abstract underwater scenes.

Inspired by my scuba-diving experiences, I wanted to start creating artwork that takes me into another unknown world. When I immerse myself in my abstract work, I actually feel like I’m diving into the painting, I’m connected to the ocean once again and the ties of gravity fade to nothing the deeper you go. A sense of euphoria becomes overwhelming.

In the deep, there is freedom. The sea has so many secrets, so many stories yet to tell.

Down in the deep depths, your senses are altered; the sounds are lazy and the light gentle. The fluidity of life far below the waves brings a sense of freedom and levity.

It's truly a three-dimensional world and I want to explore this through my artwork.

The ocean has been such an important part of my life. When I go off on my travels, I always try to go diving. I love how the ocean has the ability to be both tranquil and treacherously powerful. Since I was very young, I’ve had a great fondness for the sea and the life it holds. It always finds a way to lift my spirits.

And so through my paintings, I hope you can cherish the majestic waters and oceans that we have on our planet and feel the power and serenity of it through my work.

So dive into the deep unknown world with me on my creative journey......

I hope you enjoy the ‘Beneath the Waves’ Series, stay tuned as I will be adding so much more to this series over the coming months.

Luv Samantha Louise X
