Art can heal us, inspire us and alter our brain chemistry, leaving us filled with inspiration and love.
Scientific research suggests that art has a positive effect on the brain, similar to yoga and meditation.
Long ago, artists were creating work to inspire people and today complex brain imaging scans can show us how art
changes the physiology of our brains.
Contemplation, observing and taking in beauty all stimulate pleasure centres within the brain which in turn can lead to an elevated state of consciousness, wellbeing and better emotional health.
This explains why we might feel like we are dreaming when we look at impressionists like Claude Monet, or having an ecstatic vision while looking at a painting.
The ability of art, combined with our own imagination, to transport us to other realms is astounding. Artists have the ability to show us new worlds.
Making art activates the whole brain and can alter ones emotional, cognitive, and sensory processes. Art therapy, sometimes called art psychology, encourages self-discovery and emotional growth. It is a two-part process, involving both the creation of art and the discovery of its meaning.

I paint with so much energy now. There is an exchange of energy between me and the canvas.
Painting has been a complete discovery for me. When I paint, I am in a deep exchange with my painting and nothing else matters at that time!
Painting puts me into an altered state of awareness, I’m 'at one' with my work, any awareness of time just fades away, I feel alert and attentive when I paint, yet at the same time I’m completely relaxed and free of anxiety, I experience a pleasurable, almost spiritual sensation.
Painting for me is being at one with myself and disconnecting from everything around me. When I paint, I am fulfilling my life’s purpose. I connect with the energy around me.
Art has become my world, I want to radiate light, positivity and energy through my paintings.
I want my art to help lift your spirits when you’re low. I strive to create artwork that will bring my viewers moments of calmness, relaxation and serenity.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and feel inspired to start a creative journey of your own.
